Biography

Nicknamed “Amands” by her close friends, Amanda Griffin is one of the most versatile of the television personalities in the Philippine spotlight. Despite her busy schedule in modeling and TV show business, Griffin has been able to earn two university degrees, help promote Greenpeace, and start her own swim fashion retail store.

Although she has been in front of a camera since her early teens and loves the job, Griffin attended College in Australia and earned her bachelor’s degree in both business and communications.

Career

Amanda Griffin began her career as a young model at age 14, after being discovered at a mall, while attending the International School in Manila. It wasn’t until after she finished college at Bond University in Australia that she pushed her career forward and became a full time model . However, it didn’t stop magazines and fashion designers from tapping her immediately for photo shoots and live ramp fashion modeling. Commercials and product endorsements were soon to follow. Her first commercial? Rejoice Shampoo.

However, being an international model apparently was not enough variety for Amanda Griffin. After developing her career on camera and the ramp, Griffin took on two more major projects—opening a fashion boutique to carry the Tabu line of swimwear, and the ABS-CBN television fashion magazine, “F,” as a food and travel reporter. After “F” fizzled out, she began co-hosting “Team Explorer,” a travel show on station 23.

And Amanda Griffin makes time to help Greenpeace as well. Very concerned about the damage to the ocean and coral reefs, she can be found gathering signatures for Greenpeace and often wears Greenpeace shirts on her shows. When Amanda gets time to sleep is anyone’s guess, but Earth’s coral reefs will be better off for her efforts.

Cheska Garcia excited on her wedding ???

Filipina celebrity model and host-actress Cheska Garcia is pretty excited on her upcoming wedding with Doug Kramer, all was been set-up properly including the date (October 9, 2008).



The event would be strictly with family and friends, she mean closed - selecting sponsors with about 16 ninongs and ninangs.

With Spanish with a twist theme wedding, Cheska expect 200, 300, 600 or 1,000 guest. Filipina model host-actress and the said fiance got a 800 sq. lot and house on Forest Hills were they planned to stay after the wedding.

The Jennylyn versus Patrick issue has been going on for several months now, and each camp has been releasing contradicting statements. Who’s telling the truth?

Cheska Garcia, the elder sister of Patrick, told PEP: “Be the better judge. You have spoken to me. I’m at the state right now where I’m all loose. I can be a b*tch to you right now but I choose not to. Because that’s the way I was brought up. I don’t have to try hard. That’s the way I am, and the way my brother is. And I know my brother better than anybody else in the showbiz.”

Cheska Garcia, who is a few months away from her wedding day, is brimming with excitement.

During the birthday party of Ruffa Gutierrez—held at the Blue Leaf Events Place in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, last June 21—she revealed to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that she can’t wait to marry cager Douglas Kramer.

She’s on cloud nine, discussing her wedding plans for October 9 this year.

But in the course of the conversation, Cheska brought up one topic that has been unsettling her family for four months now: The issues confronting Patrick Garcia.

“My brother is a good guy,” Cheska said. “We were brought up with breeding, with class. You know, it’s not even class…I mean, each person can have class that they claim to have, but you know what, we are not like that.”

She continued, “My brother decided to be a businessman, is that gonna break him? We don’t have to blame ourselves. Pero alam mo, take it as it is. Pero kami, hindi kami maintriga. My brother is quiet.”

The Us Girls host was obviously disconcerted about the situation of her younger bro.

Last June 15, the 26-year old actor left for the States to pursue his studies and get away from all the “intrigues” surrounding him here. And most of these intrigues have to do with his relationship with Jennylyn Mercado, the mother of his first baby,.

Cheska told PEP, “My brother is in the U.S. and then, you know what, I’m very proud of my brother, because no matter how many times he’s been trampled on, stepped on, he’s never spoken anything [bad] about anybody.”

Song Hye Kyo will be in "1949" Chinese Film ???

Song Hye Kyo went to Shanghai, China on tuesday, June 24th for brand promotion and updated the media on details of her latest work, a cooperation with famed Hong Kong director John Woo in the movie "1949."

On the interview, "I have been learning the Chinese language, as well as Chinese history, since I signed the movie contract," Song said. "Chinese audiences will only accept my performance if I have adequate knowledge about their country."

This is the first move the South Korean actress has made toward her goal of entering the Chinese entertainment world, the Oriental Morning Post reported.

Rumors have abounded that the actress is planning to join the Chinese company that has groomed stars like Michelle Yeoh.

Song Hye Kyo will co-star with Hong Kong actor Chen Chang in "1949".

"He is a charming person, and I look forward to our cooperation," Song Hye Kyo said of her partner-to be. The two stars met at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May.

Diana Zubiri disappointed ???

MANILA, Philippines - Diana Zubiri said she was disappointed when GMA 7 pulled out her best friend, Sunshine Dizon, from the cast of the TV adaptation of Danny Zialcita’s “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan.”

“We were so happy to hear we’d be working together. It’s been a long time since ‘Encantadia,’” Diana told some writers on Friday at the Mandarin Suites in Quezon City. “But Sunshine was already in the hospital then.”

Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA 7 assistant VP for Drama, said Sunshine suffered from migraine. The network decided to replace her because “she couldn’t work anymore” under medication, which she needed constantly. “We asked her to get well first,” Rasonable told Inquirer.

Sunshine was replaced by Camille Prats—making a comeback after delivering her first child—in the role of Lily, the character portrayed by Vilma Santos in the screen version.

Diana said she had not spoken with Sunshine since work on the show started. “The subject is kind of sensitive,” the actress said, refusing to elaborate.

Bed scenes

Diana plays Elsa, the embattled character portrayed by Hilda Koronel. To prepare for the role, Diana watched the 1982 movie, produced by Viva Films. She said, “Miss Hilda was good. I really felt her character’s pain. I don’t think I can survive what Elsa went through.”

Diana is teamed up with Marvin Agustin as Louie, earlier played by the late Dindo Fernando. “We have several love scenes,” she said. “In the beginning, it felt awkward. We had to shoot one bed scene four times because he couldn’t stop giggling.”

Could Diana ever fall for a guy like Marvin? “He’s okay. But I can no longer go for men who have kids, like my previous boyfriend—it was sort of traumatic,” she said. She was apparently referring to comedian Vhong Navarro. Marvin has twins, now 3, with ex-girlfriend Tetet Dy. “I deserve my partner’s full attention,” Diana said.

“Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan,” directed by Gil Tejada Jr., also stars Sandy Andolong, Biboy Ramirez, Victor Aliwalas and Maybelyn de la Cruz. It premieres at 4 p.m. today.

SEXY actress Katrina Halili dismissed issues she is having an affair with Dr. Hayden Kho who is the boyfriend of prominent cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo.

Both Vicky and Katrina scoffed at rumors in a separate interview last Saturday.

"I don't know where the issues are coming from. What's important is Dr. Belo and I are okay, I highly respect them. I hope they would not make issues about us," Katrina said.

For Belo's part, she said, "You know, Katrina is our baby. She is our patient for years. And she is a nice lady, super sweet, and kind. I will not be insecure with her as she became loyal to me. She'll never do anything like that. I know many would flirt with Hayden when he joined showbiz but not Katrina."

Hayden also dismissed the rumors, saying: "Intrigues are okay but not to the extent that they would make people believe because she might be affected. As of now it still doesn't, but it (issues) will eventually affects our relationship. She (Katrina) is a very good girl. The couple added that they don't want Katrina to be aloof to them as they said they both love the sexy actress.

Belo is confident that Katrina's "secret affair" with his boyfriend is merely rumors, as she knows that Hayden "preferred more mature women".

But still Belo could not hide her worries as Hayden chooses to concentrate with his showbiz career, as he is part of the cast of "Kim Sam Soon" starring Regine Velasquez.

"Now that he is far from me, he is taping in Tagaytay for three days... We have not been apart, so I don't know... I am secure because we are together 24/7. When I don't see him, I am a little bit scared. But we made an agreement that if I have a little insecurity or suspicion, we'll talk about it," she said.

When asked if he is ready for all the intrigues showbiz would implicate him, Hayden said: "I guess it's my baptism of fire."

"This is really part of show business, all the intrigues. I mean, I am new in showbiz. So, I don't really understand if controversies really exist. It's really like the lifeblood of showbiz," he said.

“When Paupahan was offered, I got scared a bit because it was daring. But I saw that it was an acting piece, maganda ang script and impressive ang all-star cast. Kumbaga, being daring was part of the role. It was a good comeback project. Depende naman sa script and character yung pagiging daring,” Krista explained.

In the successful years taht followed, Hyori's popularity grew and grew, but in the recent years I formed the following opinion about the fate of Lee Hyori and Finkl members once Finkl fell apart. - Yuri and Jin would not pursue musical careers; - Joo Hyun, the powerhouse of the band, would definitely go on, and produced a relatively good comeback after face surgery and a strick diet plan..

Although I personally thought Hyori was the best looking of all of four and I loved lee Hyori's singing as well, I knew Hyori would make it big, but it would not be because of Hyori's singing but more for Hyori's looks, and as a result, she has won numerous contracts for hair and beauty products.. - Hyo Ri Lee was the only one who had what sells today: Lee hyori was a babe, and Lee Hyori had tolerable singing ability. The proof is on he latest albums.

She sings OK, the song selection is well suited for hyo ri's ability, but since Hyori's ability does leave much choice for melodic variety, the album is musically uninteresting. This is not to say that I will not buy Lee Hyori's next album.

But an industry insider said to Beijing News that her scenes in the movie "Mei Lanfang" will not be deleted.

Director Chen Kaige's new movie "Mei Lanfang" will be on screens at coming December. Gillian plays the role of young wife of 'Mei', the late Peking opera master, in the movie.

An industry insider has denied reports that scenes featuring Hong Kong star Gillian Chung will be deleted from the movie "Mei Lanfang". The star has been involved in a nude photo scandal, the Beijing News reports on Tuesday.

Director Chen Kaige's new movie "Mei Lanfang" is set to hit the screens this December. Gillian plays the young wife of Mei, the late Peking opera master in the movie.

Some media reports have suggested that all scenes featuring Gillian will be deleted. Such a suspicion was caused by a promotional booklet released by China Film Group Corporation, the movie's producer during the Shanghai International Film Festival.

The booklet featured several names of the star-studded cast such including Zhang Ziyi and Leon Lai. But Gillian's name was absent.

However, Huang Bin, an assistant of Chen Kaige denied these reports, saying that the film editing has not been completed. The director's final decision is still unknown.

Gillian once tried to return to the stage after being involved in a nude photo scandal. But the pop singer had to stop working after her return to the spotlight drew several complaints from the public.

Marian Rivera was at that time a name one couldn’t mention in the same breath as Angel Locsin.

Now, it’s the other way around.

Recently, the star of the top-rating Dyesebel on GMA-7 signed a deal with the owners of a clothing manufacturing and retailing concern to be the face and body of Jag Black, a clothing line that for some time had Angel Locsin as its female celebrity model.

Wags have been churning out nasty items about how Marian snagged the deal away from Angel, but the owners of the clothing label say otherwise.

“Angel’s contract with us had expired in May this year,” says my former classmate at the UP Institute of Mass Communication and now Jag’s legal counsel Jorge Cabildo. “Hence, the company is no longer legally bound to keep Angel.”

Becky Aguila said, in a recent interview, that she and her client, Angel, opted not to renew their deal with Jag.

No matter what the circumstances were by which Marian Rivera got into a deal with Jag, the important thing is she will be the clothing line’s celebrity endorser for its new premium denim line Holiday ’07.

The deal will have Marian appearing in Jag’s giant billboards across the archipelago, and that can make her face even more familiar to millions of Filipinos. She will be in what the owners of the label call “cutting-edge collection, features rocking bold denim pieces which were carefully crafted to achieve the best urban styling for the sophisticated jeans cult of this generation.”

“The Jag Black women’s line continues the trend of exuding sensual beauty, without losing its hardcore edge,” they add.

According to them, Marian has a “perfect fusion of sexiness and toughness, sizzling hot actress” making her the ideal “Image Model” for Jag’s new Rock and Romance Denim collection.

Cleaning up Boracay

Some of local Tinsel town’s brightest stars, like Pinoy Big Brother alumni Will Devaughn, Gaby de la Merced and Riza Santos, TV personality Sam Oh, MYX VJ Sanya Smith and model Brad Turvey took time off from their busy schedules to join the Boracay beach cleanup of Nestea Beach 2008.

Nestlé assistant vice president and Nestea consumer marketing manager Tina Samaco says the beach cleanup is just one way by which Nestea gives something back to the environment, particularly the beach, where Nestea has always held its many successful events. Nestea likewise held a beach cleanup activity at the Island Garden City of Samal early this year.

The two-fold beach activity consisted of a shore and underwater cleanup that was participated in by tourists, residents, divers and environmentalists. Nestlé officials like senior vice president and business executive manager for beverages Dennis Austriaco and assistant vice president and Coffee-mate consumer marketing manager Charlene Austriaco also joined the underwater cleanup activity. What’s more, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Nestea Beach tumblers funded the beach cleanup activity.

Celebrities who joined the beach clean-up activity indeed served as a good example to thousands of vacationers who love to visit Boracay. While they are young, fun-loving and beach-loving, they are responsible individuals who are aware of the importance of preserving the beauty of the environment. Angel Locsin fans question FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women ???

Alarmed by their idol’s irregular performance in this year’s FHM Sexiest Women contest, fans of young actress Angel Locsin (right) cast doubts on the latest results released by the the online site of FHM showing Marian Rivera (left) in the top spot.

The supposed rivalry between Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera has spilled over in this year's voting for the FHM's 100 Sexiest Women.

Recently, fans of Angel are accusing the popular men's magazine of manipulating voting results in favor of the other contenders, and in this case, GMA-7's current darling Marian.

In an e-mail letter disseminated by a certain Grace Smith, a self-confessed Angel Locsin supporter, she said that fellow fans were taken aback by the sudden slide of their idol in the ranking despite the incessant voting being carried out by Angel's ardent supporters.

"Some of my co-supporters had been angered by the sudden drop of online votes for our bet, making Ms. Marian Rivera in the No. 1 spot and Ms. Angel in No. 4. It is only but natural for us to act like that since we've been voting unceasingly," wrote Grace.

"Of course we cannot do that 24 hours a day 7 days a week since most of Angel Locsin supporters are office employees who need to attend to their jobs first and foremost, but as soon as we get home we manage to vote everyday ever since the online voting started. To add, some of our online voters have been banned disabling them to vote further, for no reason at all. In effect, they thought it was the reason why the leading female took the No. 1 spot."

While Angel's fans are not questioning the integrity of FHM, as Grace said, it was clear that the group was bringing up the issue of transparency—an integral element of any contest highly driven by digital media.

"To clear if off, our bet, Miss Angel Locsin has no knowledge or whatsoever with our activities in supporting her to win in the FHM sexiest race. This is our voluntary and heartfelt efforts to make her No.1 in magazine once again," stressed the loyal supporter.

NO MANIPULATION. FHM Digital Publisher Denis Achilles del Callar, on the other hand, scoffed at the allegation, stressing the words: "We do not manipulate results."

Denis emphasized the following key points in a letter sent to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) earlier today:

"Any ‘results' previously released through FHM.com.ph's newsletter specifically states ‘PARTIAL AND INCOMPLETE RESULTS.' This is due to the fact that text votes do not come into our database automatically, they have to be gathered and added to the database—as do written/faxed votes.

"Contrary to the e-mails being circulated, we've never published the number of votes either on-line, through text or through the magazine. Any claim that so and so celebrity was leading last week by several thousand votes is therefore an act of fiction with no basis on reality.

"Also, voting was stricter this year precisely to discourage stars who pay people to do nothing but vote for them all day, only ten votes per day on-line and via text per user/cellphone is possible—unless you own multiple SIMs and user-Ids."

As for the technical glitches occasionally encountered by the phone subscribers, Denis argued that the FHM team absolutely has nothing to do with it.

"We have no control over Smart, Globe, and Sun," he explained. "If their system is currently faulty, it's not our fault and there's nothing we can do about it."

FHM.com.ph has ended the voting for the 100 Sexiest Women. The results will be announced in the July 2008 issue of FHM.

Considered a highly-anticipated affair, the FHM annual event gathers more than a hundred gorgeous female celebrities all in one night. Ranking is based on votes placed by fans and supporters, and the top placer automatically secures the coveted crown plus the distinction of being hailed as the country's sexiest woman.

The deal will have Marian appearing in Jag’s giant billboards across the archipelago, and that can make her face even more familiar to millions of Filipinos. She will be in what the owners of the label call “cutting-edge collection, features rocking bold denim pieces which were carefully crafted to achieve the best urban styling for the sophisticated jeans cult of this generation.”

“The Jag Black women’s line continues the trend of exuding sensual beauty, without losing its hardcore edge,” they add.

Tony Leung and Carina Lau to Wed in October ???

Rumors are spreading saying that Tony Leung and his long time girlfriend of over 20 years, Carina Lau will be tying the knot this coming October!

The media are anxiously waiting for this forthcoming wedding.

Earlier, their been speculation saying that the wedding will be held at The Four Season's Hotel in which 38 tables have been booked for this October.

The couple and their families were seen having lunch at a restaurant apparently discussing the wedding arrangement.

There's also reports saying that due to the long delay of them tying the knot was because of Tony's "Feng Shui".

It would gradually affect Tony's career if he was to get married and have children before he turns 46. Thankfully, he will be turning 46 this coming July 27.

RR Enriquez and Heaven Enriquez is the same girl ???

Look what I found from net searching, RR Enriquez (with the Controversial Calendar and June 2008 Maxim Philippines Cover) and Heaven Enriquez who appeared in FHM Philippines' The Girls of FHM August of 2006 is the same girl.

Not only that, it appears that she has gone thru the knife to enhance her bumper (mammoplasty) as well as increase the bridge of her nose (rhinoplasty).

The filipino actor has known on his stunts and action movies made, he also known as a tough guy even to fight this illness over a year, and now he come to an end, a new everlasting life for him together with our Great Creator.
